Follow the steps below to enable the dark theme on the Snapchat web app.

  1. Launch Chrome or Edge browser on the desktop.
  2. Go to”
  3. Add your credentials and “Log In” to your account.

Below are the two methods through which you can enable dark mode on Snapchat for Android devices.

Way #1: Using Developer Mode

You have to bypass some mobile settings in developer mode to use the dark theme on Snapchat’s Android version. It can be a little challenging since it’s an unofficial method. If you want to get dark mode using this method, carry out the following process.

Step #1: Downloading Older Version

This method only works with Snapchat’s version and below. So you have to download the app’s APK file from websites like apkmirror or downzen etc. Before installing the old build, uninstall the Snapchat app from your mobile, then open the downloaded APK file

If you are installing the app this way for the first time, your system will ask you to allow installation from unknown sources. To allow it, click the “Settings” option and turn on the “Allow from this source” toggle.

Keep in mind that you will miss the new features and security updates by doing so, so install it at your own risk.

Step #2: Applying Dark Theme

The next thing you have to do is enable dark mode on your android phone. This option is available in Android 10 (API 29) and above versions. You can find this by launching the mobile’s “Settings” app and selecting “Display” Switch the “Dark theme” label toggle to apply it.

Step #3: Activating Developer Mode

The developer mode is not initially activated in some Android devices. You have to enable it manually to access its functions. To do so, go to the “Settings” app and click “My phone,” then tap the “Build number” seven times continuously to activate developer mode.

Step #4: Over-riding Force Dark Mode

The last step in enabling dark mode using developer mode is enabling the over-riding force dark mode option. Doing such will apply a dark theme on all apps that do not support it. To enable it, go back to “Settings” and click “System” > “Developer options,” then find “Override force-dark” and toggle it on. Finally, launch the Snapchat app to see if this works.

Way #2: Using Third-Party Apps

Several apps can also help users enable dark themes on Android devices. One of the most convenient of them is Substratum App. However, your Android device needs to be rooted for Substratum to function correctly.

Another way is to install the Blue Light Filter app from Google Play Store. Using this app doesn’t apply dark mode on Snapchat though it lets you adjust the harsh lights that emit from your phone’s screen.
